On Site Optimization

1. Best Practices (Does my site conform to the top Search Engine Rules and Guidelines)
Google Guidelines
Design and content guidelines
• Make a site with a clear hierarchy and text links. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.

• Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.

• Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.

• Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.

• Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. The Google crawler doesn't recognize text contained in images. If you must use images for textual content, consider using the "ALT" attribute to include a few words of descriptive text.

• Make sure that your elements and ALT attributes are descriptive and accurate.

• Check for broken links and correct HTML.

• If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few.

• Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

• Review our image guidelines for best practices on publishing images.

Technical guidelines
• Use a text browser such as Lynx to examine your site, because most search engine spiders see your site much as Lynx would. If fancy features such as JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash keep you from seeing all of your site in a text browser, then search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site.

• Allow search bots to crawl your sites without session IDs or arguments that track their path through the site. These techniques are useful for tracking individual user behavior, but the access pattern of bots is entirely different. Using these techniques may result in incomplete indexing of your site, as bots may not be able to eliminate URLs that look different but actually point to the same page.

• Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allows your web server to tell Google whether your content has changed since we last crawled your site. Supporting this feature saves you bandwidth and overhead.

• Make use of the robots.txt file on your web server. This file tells crawlers which directories can or cannot be crawled. Make sure it's current for your site so that you don't accidentally block the Googlebot crawler. Visit http://www.robotstxt.org/faq.html to learn how to instruct robots when they visit your site. You can test your robots.txt file to make sure you're using it correctly with the robots.txt analysis tool available in Google Webmaster Tools.

• If your company buys a content management system, make sure that the system creates pages and links that search engines can crawl.

• Use robots.txt to prevent crawling of search results pages or other auto-generated pages that don't add much value for users coming from search engines.

• Test your site to make sure that it appears correctly in different browsers.

Quality guidelines
These quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed here (e.g. tricking users by registering misspellings of well-known websites). It's not safe to assume that just because a specific deceptive technique isn't included on this page, Google approves of it. Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.
Google prefers developing scalable and automated solutions to problems, so we attempt to minimize hand-to-hand spam fighting. The spam reports we receive are used to create scalable algorithms that recognize and block future spam attempts.
Quality guidelines - basic principles
• Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."

• Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"

• Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
• Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

Quality guidelines - specific guidelines
• Avoid hidden text or hidden links.

• Don't use cloaking or sneaky redirects.

• Don't send automated queries to Google.

• Don't load pages with irrelevant keywords.

• Don't create multiple pages, sub domains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.

• Don't create pages with malicious behavior, such as phishing or installing viruses, trojans, or other badware.

• Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.

• If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:23 PM 1 comments

Yahoo Guidelines

Yahoo! strives to provide the best search experience on the Web by directing searchers to high-quality and relevant web content in response to a search query.
Pages Yahoo! Wants Included in its Index:
• Original and unique content of genuine value
• Pages designed primarily for humans, with search engine considerations secondary
• Links intended to help people find interesting, related content, when applicable
• Metadata (including title and description) that accurately describes the contents of a web page
• Good web design in general
Unfortunately, not all web pages contain information that is valuable to a user. Some pages are created deliberately to trick the search engine into offering inappropriate, redundant or poor-quality search results; this is often called "spam." Yahoo! does not want these pages in the index.
What Yahoo! Considers Unwanted:
Some, but not all, examples of the more common types of content that Yahoo! does not want include:
• Pages that harm accuracy, diversity or relevance of search results
• Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page (doorway pages)
• Multiple sites or pages offering substantially the same content
• Pages that rely heavily on content or links to content created for another web site, such as affiliate content
• Sites with numerous, unnecessary virtual hostnames
• Pages in great quantity, automatically generated or of little value (cookie-cutter pages)
• Pages using methods to artificially inflate search engine ranking
• The use of text or links hidden from the user
• Pages that give the search engine different content than what the end user sees (cloaking)
• Sites cross-linked excessively with other sites to inflate a site's apparent popularity (link schemes)
• Pages built primarily for the search engines or pages with excessive or irrelevant keywords
• Misuse or inaccurate use of competitor or brand names
• Sites that use excessive pop-ups, install malware (i.e. spyware, viruses, trojans), or interfering with user navigation
• Pages that seem deceptive, fraudulent, or provide a poor user experience
Yahoo! Search Content Quality Guidelines are designed to ensure that poor-quality pages do not degrade the user experience in any way. As with Yahoo!'s other guidelines, Yahoo! reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to take any and all action it deems appropriate to ensure the quality of its index.

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:22 PM 0 comments

Bing MSN Guidelines

2. Keywords: - Keywords plays an importance role for web site optimization in MSN, so never forget keywords significance which is less in Google but more in yahoo and MSN.
3.
4. Content: - Apart from Google MSN loves keywords density so plays good quantity of keywords phrases between your content. But in Google it is considered span placing more keywords above limit. MSN also loves fresh contents as Google.
5.
6. On page Optimization: - MSN give more emphasis for “on page optimization techniques “rather than off page optimization. So if you want to rank well your site in MSN than concentrate more for “on page optimization techniques”, but don’t forget to do off page optimization along with as it is required by all the search engines along with MSN.
7.
8. Broken link: - MSN state your web site should not have broker links so check html url links property.
9.
10. robot.txt: - robot.txt file should be used for giving instructions how MSNBOt index your site in its database. Robot.txt plays equal importance in other search engines as well.
11.
12. Description Tag: - Plays well descriptive content in description tag for every web page as it has great importance for both google and msn.
13.
14. Content and Page Limit: - Fresh content are loved by the MSN but content limit for each and every web page should not be access the prescribed limit that is 150 kb.
15.
16. But the people who ask whether Google ignores meta tags may be looking for different answers.
For example, some people may want to know if they should use meta tags on their Web pages. A lot of SEOs will tell you yes (or no). Not many people will take the time to share with you what they feel meta tags really are.
If you support the idea that complying with W3C standards is a good thing for Web sites, then you should use the W3C definition for meta tags. They say that meta tags (actually “meta elements”) use the <meta keyword in their structure.
Search engines currently pay attention to three meta tags:
1. meta description can be used in conjunction with robots to guide search engines in what to show searchers
2. meta keywords is still indexed by Ask and Yahoo!. Googlers have said their search engine ignores the tag but you may want to steer clear of overloading it with unrelated keywords nonetheless.
3. meta robots allows you to provide page-specific directives to search engines on how to handle your links (follow or nofollow), your copy (index, noindex, archive, noarchive), and major directory descriptions for your site (noodp and noydir).
Search engine optimization is not merely concerned with obtaining high rankings for targeted expressions. SEO also looks at how your site is presented by the search engine. You want to understand how using the meta description and meta robots elements (tags) can help or hinder your search visibility and conversions.
In addition, the search engines may conclude you have duplicate content on your site if all your meta description tags are the same or similar. Creating significantly unique text in your meta descriptions can make or break your site’s usability in site search and broad query sets.
The meta keywords tag is another place for you to include relevant terms but don’t be surprised if Ask and Yahoo! favor other pages because of different criteria. The meta keywords element provides the least value of the three but is not entirely worthless (as some people would have you believe).
On the other hand, people asking does Search engines ignore meta tags may be wondering if their efforts to force Google to display their meta description are for nought. After all, any page is relevant to a potentially large number of words and expressions so it’s very possible (and for many pages quite likely) that Google will create a snippet based on data not included in the meta description for obscure query results.
You cannot prevent Google’s use of other text to create that snippet but you can certainly influence which text Google is likely to use for alternative descriptive snippets by studying your search referrals and embedding relevant text for secondary expressions in your body copy. Don’t do this randomly. Rather, use the keyword referral strings to help enhance your body copy and improve the odds that you really are providing information people are looking for.
If people ask “does Google ignore meta tags” because they have seen a debate in some forum or blog over meta tags, they may still be learning the basic principles of search engine optimization. It may not be enough simply to tell them why you would or would not use meta tags on your pages.
If you want to know does meta author matter then I would say that it does not matter for the major search engines. At least, I have never seen a site that ranked for an author’s name on the basis of the meta author content. The meta author element is not really useful, in my opinion, because when used properly it won’t improve relevance for valuable expressions.
And that’s what I would say in response to the question Does Google ignore meta tags?.

Required Meta Tags Exist :

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:21 PM 0 comments

Description, Keywords

Meta Description: Search Engines (especially Google), tends to ignore them at this time, but they are still making use of them for snippet compilation, also called “call to action“.
When displaying result, search engines tend to make use of this tag to describe the website profile, and is shown below the “Page Title” (also the link to your website) as a snippet.
If the meta description is not found on your page search engines will decides to show a snippet from the page content itself (a snippet of what is considered to be more relevant to the search query).
The downside of this is that the snippet might not have that “call to action” that you are going for.
Another use of this tag, is, when submitting your website to directories, as some of them will pick-up and use the meta description you have on that page as their directory listing description.
As the page title, meta description should be also unique across the website for each page. My site is #1 on google for keyword
"cherry green colored shoe laces" or "blue rubber handled tweezers"Those are no brainer,s because there is no competition! Niche is easy! But if you are not niche, Then you need to be page relevant!

Keywords: Optimal Number of Keywords
Keyword relevancy to page content. Is my keyword density ratio optimal?
Keyword density is an indicator of the number of times the particular keyword or phrase appears in the web page. But mind you, keywords shouldn't be over used, but should be just sufficient enough to appear at important places.
If you repeat your keywords in every other word on every line, then your website will probably be banned as an artificial site or spam site. Keyword density is always expressed as a percentage of the total word content on a given web page.
Suppose you have 100 words on your webpage (not including HTML code used for writing the web page), and you use a certain keyword or phrase for ten times in the content. The keyword density on that page is got by simply dividing the total number of keywords, by the total number of words that appear on your web page. So here it is 10 divided by 100 = .10. Because keyword density is a percentage of the total word count on the page, multiply the above by 100, that is 0.10 x 100 = 10% Keyword density .
The accepted standard for a keyword density is between 3% and 8%, to get recognized by the search engines and you should never exceed it.
Remember, that this rule applies to every page on your site. It also applies to not just to one keyword but also a set of keywords that relates to a different product or service. The keyword density should always be between 3% and 8%.
Simple steps to check the keyword density:
1. Copy and paste the content from an individual web page into a word-processing software program like Word.
2. Go to the 'Edit' menu and click 'Select All'. Now go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Word Count'. Write down the total number of words in the page.
3. Now select the 'Find' function on the 'Edit' menu. Go to the 'Replace' tab and type in the keyword you want to find. 'Replace' that word with the same word, so you don't change the text.
4. When you complete the replace function, the system will provide a count of the words you replaced. That gives the number of times you have used the keyword in that page.
5. Using the total word count for the page and the total number of keywords you can now calculate the keyword density .
What we call “keyword density” refers to how often a specific keyword can be found in your page copy.
The theory is based on the fact that the more often the search engine could find a search term in your content; the more it would imply that your page is relevant and thus should be ranked higher.
While this is still very true with MSN Live, to some extend with Yahoo too; when it comes to Google you must be very careful at not exceeding the optimum keyword density or you may face an over-optimization penalty.
In addition, Google new algorithm favors more related search terms than exclusively keyword density. As to what is Google optimal keyword density, rather than a fix number, one should rather focus on the quality of the copy provided as outlined in Google’s recommendation.
With Google, keyword density SEO is nothing more than writing a quality content that makes sense for your readers without having to focus on the search engines.
How to Calculate Keyword Density Percentage
The difficulty with keyword density is that there’s no magic number at to what percentage is the perfect one!
That’s right; the keyword density percentage is a relative value based on your content length in the first place, and as to how high or low this number should be is still quite a mystery.
One common safe way people usually refer to in order to prevent exceeding the optimal keyword density threshold, is to balance with the ratios in used with the top 10 websites of your search term.
However, the formula itself used to calculate keyword density is simple to understand for the people who are willing to spend some time on it.
Just follow these simple steps:
• Count how many words in your page. (most of the word processors or blog engines have a word count function inbuilt)
• Count how many times you use your keyword. (cache function, or search function will help you get this quickly and easily)
Now, apply the following percentage formula:
Keyword Density = ([Keyword Count]*100)/[Total Word Count]
For example, let’s look at this post and try to calculate the keyword density for the search term “SEO”:
• Total Page Word Count: 548 words.
• Keyword instances: 8 times.
Let’s apply the formula:
“SEO” density = (8*100)/548
Keyword density for “SEO” on this page is 1.46%.

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:20 PM 0 comments

Robots:Found no robots Meta tag.

Metadata Elements - Robots META Tag
The Robots META Tag is meant to provide users who cannot upload or control the /robots.txt file at their websites, with a last chance to keep their content out of search engine indexes and services.

Examples of the Robots META Tag
The content="robots-terms" is a comma separated list used in the Robots META Tag that may contain one or more of the following keywords without regard to case: noindex, nofollow, all, index and follow.
noindex
Page may not be indexed by a search service.

nofollow
Robots are not to follow links from this page.

Admin Note: The robots directives of index, follow or all are not required as it is the default behavior of indexing spiders.

index
Robots are welcome to include this page in search services.

follow
Robots are welcome to follow links from this page to find other pages.

If this meta tag is missing, or if there is no content, or the robot terms are not specified, then the robot terms will be assumed to be "index, follow" (e.g. "all"). In order to get included a site should comply with those rules or it might be excluded from indexes.
If someone intentionally breaks those rules they put their site on risk of ban or removal from indexes.
And thats exactly what black hat SEO “specialists” do. They break those rules on purpose. They don’t care about users and search engines. They want traffic. And its not targeted traffic.
Black hat SEO techniques
Black hat SEO techniques include:
• Keyword stuffing - put lots and lots of keywords on site without real unique content; also hiding keywords on site and make them visible only to search engines,
• Doorway pages - single pages to direct traffic to other pages, do not have any valuable content itself,
• Cloaking - showing one version of site to the users and another to the search engines,
White hats vs Black hats
White hats tend to produce results that last a long time, whereas black hats anticipate that their sites may eventually be banned either temporarily or permanently once the search engines discover what they are doing - Wikipedia.
White hat SEO specialists create websites for human beings, make them easily accessible for search engines and use other methods to promote them on the Internet.
Black hat SEO’s create website only for search engines. They break search engine guidelines and use deception to drive traffic to a site with low value to the user.
White hat SEO aim to stay in high rankings for a long time, generating targeted traffic to the site, satisfy incoming users by giving them what they search for and enable search engines to crawl their site with ease.
Black hat SEO aim to trick visitors to visit a website, trick search engines by showing it a different (SE optimized version of a site) and rank well for desired keyword for short period of time. That is, until search engine discovers an unethical method used by such site and removes it from search engine results for those keywords.
Conclusion
Don’t do evil. Make websites for people and don’t deceive or trick them. Don’t do black hat SEO.

Q:- Internal Links: Do my internal links pass page rank properly?
Creating a good internal linking strategy to pass pagerank from one page to another is an important part of SEO. Unless you have a good understanding of some basic technical concepts, it sometimes may be hard for you to figure out if your internal links are capable of passing pagerank. For example, you might have a fancy drop down menu of links that don’t appear until you mouse over the menu. How can you tell if the bots are crawling it?
One simple method is to sign your site up for Google Webmaster Tools and check out the Internal Links report. If the menu is passing page rank you should see the page show up in the report as page that is generating an internal link to the pages for the items listed on the menu. Thanks Google.
Tags: Internal Linking
12 responses so far ↓
We have lots of URLs with noindex meta tags showing up in our report. It’s interesting because it backs up what some Googlers have suggested - noindex,follow allows page rank to pass thru the noindexed page and into the pages to which it links.
That said, it is still an extremely valuable tool no matter what, and I thank you for reminding me this morning to browse our internal links looking for poorly formatted URLs (i.e. ?sort=best-sellers, etc.). I found out a new employee has been interlinking products this way. Problem solved.
Glad to be of help Everett.
You could also just run a site:www.example.com/
to find out if the page is indexed if you didn’t want to sign-up for webmaster tools.
Jeff, you are correct, except that your method doesn’t prove if the indexed page is passing page rank.
While the reports in Webmaster Tools can be used to reveal important, actionable information, I’m not so sure that it can be said that the internal link report is an indicator of passed PR. I just found a number of high-level pages where Google reported no internal links, when there are a number of static links, including from a sitemap.
While no doubt GWT is buggy and misses stuff (particularly since the new release a couple of weeks ago), I would check to see if the pages that have the links have been crawled and indexed by Google. If they haven’t been crawled yet they would not show up in the internal links report.
That said, if the page does show up, then it’s a good indication that it’s passing PR.
We review this on every site using not on GWT. Another tool that we have used is XENU, it is a 404 checker..but it provides information on Level and Links In / Links Out. More importantly, we visually inspect the site and try to create link maps (usually hand drawn) to help figure out how to ’sculpt’ the page rank. There are definitely some very scientific ways to do this, but we treat it more like an art and use site: in Google to monitor the result.
The difference between your techniques and the one I am suggesting above is that the only way (I think) to actually prove that Google is associating an internal link with the page it is linking to, is to see it show up in the internal links report on GWT. This still doesn’t mean it is passing PR, but it seems like the best indication available that it is.
Is there a fool proof way to determine if an inbound link passes page rank? I would like to know.
I don’t think there is a truly foolproof way (except perhaps by doing a very controlled test), but I do think using GWT is as foolproof as you can get.
i can’t believe this post got 40+ sphinns… huh? Search engines count links to your site as a popularity vote. Search engines have grown smarter in recognizing link patterns, linking profiles, deep-linking, one-way and reciprocal linking strategies, etc.
Your links should be inbound one-way links with appropriate anchor text related to your site. They should also come from a site that’s related to the theme and content of your Website, or the link will be devalued. Who you link to matters as well. If your site links out to link farms (sites that’s only purpose is to host a large array of spam links) then you could be penalized for it.
Benefits of link building
Like I’ve said before, if content is king then link building is queen. I’m actually quite convinced that links are king. I’ve seen contentless (is that a word?) sites rank well just based off their link. Consider a link a vote in popularity. They key thing to remember is it’s not about the quantity it’s about the quality. Quality links alone can make your site rank well for your search terms without doing much else.
Consider the Google bomb of ‘Miserable Failure’. For years, up until just recently when Google finally assessed this matter, if you were to type ‘Miserable Failure’ into Google the first page that would come up is Bush’s page on whitehouse.gov. Nowhere on that site does it even mention ‘Miserable Failure’ but some pranksters linked to that site using the anchor text of ‘Miserable Failure’. Sure enough, whitehouse.gov was #1 for that term. Google has started catching on to this method of Google bombing, or mass-linking the exact same anchor text from a large number of multiple sites. This is why it’s important to vary your anchor text of your keywords and keyphrases when getting links from other sites.
Link Building Strategies
Reciprocal linking is pretty much a dying practice, but people still do it and some still swear by it. To do reciprocal linking what you should do is create a page on your site as a directory page to swap links with others. I would refrain from naming it “links” or something that search engines might catch onto really easily. Search engines don’t really condone reciprocal linking, but if you must then read on. You’re probably better off naming it “affiliates” or something similar. On your affiliate page create a directory of sites you’ve traded links with. You must make sure these sites are related to your niche or theme of your Website. Trading links with non-related sites is absolutely worthless. Linking to banned sites or link farms will hurt your TrustRank with Google as well.
To trade links with a Website look for a “links” or “affiliates” page on their Website. Sometimes they will have instructions on their site like how to link to them. Other times, you should just e-mail the Webmaster or owner directly in a professional manner. Do not use an automated program to find links and email the owners. These have a very low return rate of response. Be sure to have linked to them already before e-mailing them regarding a link exchange, and show them exactly where their link is.
To find your competition’s links go to Yahoo.com and type linkdomain:competition.com. All of their backlinks will show. You can then go through these and see what you have to do to get links from some of their best sources.
There are a few good directories to get links from and the rest are pretty much worthless unless they are related to your niche. Some of the better link directories are quite costly. I will share directories in a later post but for now know that directories like DMOZ (free), Yahoo!, Best of the Web, Business.com, and bCentral (currently not accepting new people) are quality directories to stick to. Other directories are generally link farms, and some even require reciprocation. I would highly suggest not doing that and I will explain why in the next section.
Link bait is an overused term basically meaning to offer something that people will want to link to naturally. Some common things to link bait with are informative articles, widgets, web applications, tools, or anything to lure someone in to your site. If others see it as beneficiary to them, then they will link to your site naturally. Informative articles can be bookmarked on social bookmarking or social news sites and spread like wildfire. If you land your article on the front page of Digg you can expect a surge of server-crashing traffic.
THE PROCESS
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Process

Seo Process Search engine optimization process in 10 easy Steps
Search engine optimization process is simple to understand but difficult to follow these is the reason why 89% SEO companies fails to deliver. Here are some of those strategies:

- article submissions
- blog commenting
- classified ads
- directory submissions
- forum posting
- link exchange
- press release
- online groups
- social media and networking
- social bookmarking
Q:-Inbound Links: What is the value of my inbound links?
Inbound Link Quality Flowchart
Ok, this is the reason why I posted this article so late today; I just was so busy designing this flowchart:

Click the picture to view the high resolution version for printing or downloading.
By following this flowchart you’ll be able to tell yourself what is the quality of the link you are building and whether or not it’s worth it!
Inbound links categorization
In order to help you, we can classify inbound links by their authority value as follows:
No Authority Backlinks
Those are absolutely useless so don’t even think about it, 100% pure waste of time:
• Comment Spam.
• Guest Book.
• Link Farm.
Low Authority Backlinks
Those are the links most of the people work on building every day, those are very low worth links and are barely worth 5% of the value of a good link:
• Directories
• Comments on DoFollow Blogs
• Forum Signature
• Linking between your sites
• Link Exchange
Medium Authority Backlinks
Those are the link people should spend more time to focus on building. Just one of those good links is worth 20-100 times more than the low authority backlinks previously mentioned.
• Guest posting with full credit.
• Blogrolls references.
• Good directories (Yahoo!, DMOZ)
High Authority Backlinks
Those are the best links you can think of! Any of those links is easily worth 1,000 low authority backlinks!
They are hard to get but they sure reward!
• News
• Editorial reference
• Credit Reference (widget/badges/etc…)
Keep in mind that you need links from many different sites, not many links from the same sites!
In Conclusion
If you really want results online, you must build quality inbound links from many different domains, not from just the same sites.

Q:- Outbound Links:
Outbound links in Google analytics
Google with “Google analytics” the web site statistics service offers a very important service to webmasters for free. The service is undoubtedly perfect for its price. There is a missing feature though that many webmasters wish they had; where do visitors go when leaving the website. Google has addressed this partially and you can add an onclick event in your outbound links (inside your anchor tag)
onclick="javascript:urchinTracker('/outgoing/example_com');"
I am saying that this is a partial solution because it would be tedious for people with websites that have more than say 100 pages to do this manually. Therefore I created this simple javascript solution that goes on each and every outbound link on you page and adds this click event. Here it is
function attachOnClick() {
var _B = document.domain;
var _A = document.getElementsByTagName("a");
for( var i = 0; i < _A.length; i++ )
{
if ( ( (_B != '' && _A[i].href.indexOf(_B) < 0) || _B == '') && _A[i].href.indexOf('://') > 0 )
{
_A[i].onclick = function(){
outlink = “/outlinks/”+this.href.substring(7) ;
urchinTracker(outlink);
};
}
}
}
attachOnClick();
You can save this in a javascript file analytics_report_outbound.js and then insert it in your page footer like this

Hope it helps.
How to tell what is a good neighbourhood or bad neighborhood ?

If you link to sites that are banned by Google for spamming, you are inviting the risk of getting banned for linking to a bad neighbor.

So first we should know that what is a bad neighborhood and how can we know that a site is a bad neighbor to link to before you get penalized by the search engines.

Bad neighbors are those websites who use unethical methods to get high rankings or are banned by the search engines for spamming. You should not link to a website if it uses unethical methods for achieving a high ranking in a search engine, spamming may work for them now but bet me it will not for longer periods. As soon, as search engines know that they are spamming they will banned and also the sites linking to that site may be penalized by lowering their rankings or even can be banned.

How the search engines understand that whether a site should be banned is a matter of controversy and those changes from time to time. Today a methodology may be ok, but tomorrow (in the next update) it may be considered unethical.

Google is one of the search engines that can classify sites as spam sites very quickly they can catch you as soon as you do it. If you exchange links with a site which has a PR 7 but it uses unethical methods so... what's going to happen, it may work for you now and you may also receive a PR of 6 but as soon as google catches that website. You may see your PR 0 in the next update.

You may heard of an ad network company, SearchKing. Their concept was to place text ads on sites that have a high PR score and use that PR as a way to gauge part of the value of the ad. An ad from a page with a PageRank of 7 cost more than an ad from one that had a PageRank of 6.

But, there was another effect of this network in Google's pagerank analysis system. When a site with high PR links to a site with low PR, a part of the importance is passed along to the site with low PR. Now when a high PR site feels another site worthy to link at because of the content, it is alright as it is the natural way to build PR. But in this case they were linking to poor quality sites against a payment and as a result in Google PR analysis, those sites were deemed as important one.

It was possible that after a certain period of time those not-so-worthy sites would have started to attain top ranks in the results, finally affecting the quality of the Google results. If they allowed this company get special treatment, the search results would get so messed up that they'd totally lose their relevancy after sometime. It was a threat to Google's successful business model.

Obviously, Google penalized the sites. SearchKing, the ad network site got a PageRank Zero penalty in the latest Google update. The main pages of the network of all hosted sites saw its PageRank reduced to half. These were the pages that had a high PR.

Their problem was that they were trying to sell and pass on the advantage of having a high PR to sites that may not be worth getting that importance.

So how do I classify who's a bad neighbor who's not?

We have already mentioned in this article some of the practices that are a reason for search engines to ban particular sites. But the “sins” are not only limited to being a spam domain. Generally, companies get blacklisted because they try to boost their ranking by using illegal techniques such as keyword stuffing, duplicate content (or lack of any original content), hidden text and links, doorway pages, deceptive titles, automatic-generated pages and etc. Search engines also tend to dislike meaningless link directories that conceive the impression that they are topically arranged, so if you have a fat links section on your site, double-check what you link to.

If you have outbound links to many different sites, such checks might take a lot of time. Fortunately, there are tools that can help you in performing this task. For instance, http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/ provides a tool that reports links to and from suspicious sites and sites that are missing in Google's index.

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:14 PM 0 comments

Search Term Keyword Analysis and Suggestion

How Does The SEO Book Keyword Tool Work?
This keyword tool is powered by Wordtracker's API. Why could your pages not be being indexed?
Search engine spiders travel around the web and index as many of all the billions and billions of websites and web pages that they can. But they have priorities. Websites that have high link popularity will be crawled more frequently, while new sites may take days, weeks and even months before they are picked up by spiders and then indexed.
What can I do to speed up this process?
Links should be your main priority for getting your site picked up by search engines. The more links you have from pages on other sites that have been indexed then these are going to alert the spider to your website and speed up the time it takes for your site to be included in the search engines index.
My homepage is indexed but nothing else...
In this situation, search engines have found your homepage, but they are not picking up all of your pages, either because you do not have enough link popularity or your internal linking has made it too difficult for spiders to find the rest of the content on your site. If search engines have got to your content but not indexed it, then you're lacking link popularity for search engines to consider indexing you. This generally happens for competitive search phrases, but you're still capable of getting indexed for less-competitive terms even if you have weak links.
My site used to be indexed but not anymore...
In this situation, you may have upset the search engine, received a penalty and been kicked out of their index. Artificially building links? Linking to a site in a bad neighbourhood? Duplicate content? If you know you've done anything you shouldn't have, then you're paying the price by not being indexed.
One More Common Mistake
People commonly add pages to their robots.txt files by mistake. This is a sure-fire way to prevent your pages from being indexed. And those who do so probably don't check their file, or even know what they're doing. Only disallow pages on your robots.txt file that you don't want indexing! It is easy to remove pages from this and make you will suffer no penalties for any pages that have been removed from there.
Google Sitemaps
Some people may tell you to use Google Sitemaps to fix the problem. I wouldn't recommend doing so as you're not fixing the constant problem that is preventing your site from being indexed. You are better to follow the above advice to solve your indexing issues.

 Posted by seodeveloper at 8:09 PM 0 comments

Competitive analysis critical to SEO success

Understanding your competitors -- their strategy, their tactics, their level of success, etc. -- is crucial to the success of your SEO initiatives.
